Presentation

Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to Latin American Congress of Clinical and Laboratorial Toxicology (ToxiLatin 2014) and the School for Advanced Studies in Toxicology.

We are pleased to welcome you at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, with the characteristic friendliness of the locals (known as gauchos). This event represents a regional and international mark within the Laboratorial, Clinical and Academic Toxicology. With the goal of bringing topics of interest and providing greater integration for potential collaborations among national and international groups, focusing primarily on the advancement of Toxicology and Health.

The motivation for organizing such event was guided by the need to increase the exchange of ideas and knowledge among Brazilian and foreigner toxicologists on topics such as Antidotes Policy for Chemical Agents; Nanotoxicology, Occupational and Environmental Toxicology, among others, seeking new ways to guide, strength, deep, spread, and, at medium and long term, to reinforce the need for establishment of security measures for toxic agents.

The Clinical and Laboratorial Toxicology can be understood as a narrow interface between the diagnostic and prognostic methods for poisoning and / or exposure and the onset of functional changes, as well as all potential toxicological processes in different sub-areas of Toxicology. In this line, the approach of several subareas of knowledge in Toxicology will pave the way for the advancement of this science allowing safety assessments in biological systems. In fact, it is recognized that the technological advancement also has brought an increased exposure risk to toxic agents and their effects. On the other hand, the knowledge generated by this advancement has created new tools to assess early damage and establish new paradigms of toxicology and risk assessment.

We would like to thank you for your participation that will greatly contribute for the success of this congress and for achieving the proposed dissemination and expansion of knowledge in the field of Toxicology.
